ICJA

Christmas is coming, and if one or the other among you should feel the need something good to do (see the Stockholm-Christmas Syndrome), then he should read the following carefully:

"ICJA voluntary exchange is making the world through international meetings and intercultural education practical peace work and promotes corporate
political commitment. "

threatened loss of public funds education program
for international volunteers in Germany

Ladies and Gentlemen,
dear friends, and friends,
international volunteers from the ICJAs help for years in the care of senior citizens
or support the educators in day nurseries. They work in
facilities for people with disabilities and engage in world shops for
global justice. About 50 young people come from all over the world
under the ICJA exchange program each year to learn to us to life in a
other country, know a different cultural space and simultaneously
by their commitment to contribute to cross-cultural understanding and
the stimulation of everyday life in their placements.
While the volunteers from Germany are supported largely by funding programs
Federal Government and the EU, who have international volunteers
the cost of their replacement entirely on its own
So far, the ICJA of the Association of Evangelical Youth (AEJ)
federal funding for the implementation of the Training and Evaluation of the international
exchange of young people and for regional group meetings related. Now
those reduced funds continuously until the promotion is set entirely in 2013
is. This cut hits us hard. Even if much of the tireless
commitment of our volunteers assets can be collected, can be paid
not all charges due to personal commitment.
your support makes it possible to offer our international volunteers in the future
an attractive educational program and the support by
the regional groups and the quality of our exchange program to secure
. All who have experienced it themselves even know how exciting,
important and challenging life in a foreign culture and cooperation
is marked with different people and the importance of
know well-designed monitoring the experience.
why we ask you to take this opportunity to make a donation for the care of our international
volunteers. We thank you in advance for your interest and
your involvement!

Best wishes from ICJA Board

Authentic Mexican Cheeseenchiladas

proposes Examination Week & paperwork

Today began the "Examination Week" at the John William Montessori School. This is something like the big final week of work written in each subject before the Christmas holidays. So also in ICT. This meant for me to design for grades 4, 5 and 6 work. I have done in the last few weeks. So then today was the big day for my students. I had a free morning, however, since the supervision of teachers of another subject was conducted. I got in the end just the finished envelopes including work in the
pressed hand.

What looks like the whole thing can admire her in the photos. Together with the written class tests last week which I have now I have done in the next few weeks a whole chunk of paperwork. Thus, needless to question how I will spend my time up to the holidays. But somehow it was a nice feeling to see how the children work hard and motivate. It has mediated at least in the sense that a little something to have. What I have read so far is not that bad. In addition, the correction may indeed be comfortable with candlelight and relaxing music.

I will soon try a video from Accra to upload, but the connection here at school unfortunately, too slow. Therefore I will probably for a trip to Vodafone Internet Cafe have to make.

Will Building Blocks Explode In Fire

In Accra, the pulse

So I took the last working day of the week free to in the night from Thursday to Friday a VIP bus stops (somehow ridiculous to) climb here in Kumasi, which I should then bring on the night after Accra. I was accompanied by some other female volunteers. Lea unfortunately could not take the journey with me, since, under the Malaria still could use some rest.

It was therefore just after 1 clock going in Kumasi. The bus was very comfortable and air conditioned. Early in the morning, there was a great sunrise in Accra to see. Samir came about three hours later and finally on to the bus station. One can not blame him, but absolutely at the traffic situation in Accra. It's just the pure insanity. All road networks are completely overloaded. We explored a bit then the city center and ate at the "Galitos" what me a bit of Burger King has recalled or so.

Then it went from then on in Samir's project. For the way there we braucheten then again a good two hours. Since I am really glad that the situation in Kumasi to be more relaxed in Vergelich. Generally, people act in Kumasi friendly, helpful and less intrusive. Accra is simply a very large, noisy and dirty city. This must be said just then another. For this course you have the sea right outside the front door.

Samir's project is the "Good Shepherd Orphranage" and is located on the western outskirts of Accra. Again, I must say that I like my project to better what lengths to shelter, care and general terms of living conditions. Samir is unfortunately not really happy with the current situation. But he also has only 3 months here in Ghana.

made after a fun day and a night of beer, guitar and vocals Samir us I Next day on us at the Kokrobitey Beach Resort. There, we booked with Obi from Liverpool and from Vienna, Christoph a really nice bungalow right behind the bar in addition there was a happy reunion with Seth and Laurids residing here in Accra and I already knew from Cape Coast. Okay the rest of you can imagine. In the evening there was a large party with live reggae music and a lot of alcoholic beverages. Previously, we have our beach restaurant but still indulged in lasagna.

impressions from the weekend: Part 3

rings on Saturday at 6 clock my phone and I go before the school gate where I meet up with Nana. We take a taxi and go to the Sofo-line station where we are with Douglas and several other Volunteers meet.

From here it out with a Trotro from the noisy and hectic city. It is amazing that just a few kilometers after leaving the city, the wilderness in all its colors bloom. It is located practically in the jungle. Somewhere in the void is to be built on the land times a real little village. This is now our task.

At the moment we are concerned with the bricks for the houses produce. This is all still true craftsmanship. We mix cement and sand together with water and press the Pour into a brick shape. Pretty exhausting the whole. This was then spent the Saturday, although there were always refreshment breaks with juicy oranges, the pulp of cocoa plants and palm wine. This allows the spectacle and bear quite well. By late afternoon we made our tired but happy on the way back to where you can still Tanoso approved a cold beer and then a cold shower and in bed relatively soon disappeared.
I will probably not work every weekend here because it is pretty hard work and yet you are so take time out must, but it still brings a lot of fun and a nice change to the whole brain work.

Why Important To Wear Protective Clothing

About the Stockholm Syndrome Christmas ...

The trees are bare, the thermometer falls the first time below 9 degrees, the really cold wind sets in, it is not far from the first snow, the time in which it is making all the couples in a warm cozy home cozy and all singles wanted not to be alone, the time of the gray dark days of hanging where the clouds are so low in the sky and the days are incredibly short. In short, the winter is coming. In a way this should all be yearly recurring spectacle currently playing. Here in the tropical West Africa to get them warm with little. It's such a constant daily temperatures around 30 degrees, hot sun and thunderstorms alternate constant, slowly you realize that the dry season begins now final.

Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and America, peace, joy and pancakes, all sing Jaaaa "

Since it is understandable that many people so dearly beloved Christmas spirit does not like to pay so well. This is me However, relatively unimportant, since it first I do not particularly put much value, second single and would have voted in these circumstances unnecessarily depressed, and thirdly, I have nothing against a one year lasting summer.

I work often on the weekend along with some volunteers LZG, Douglas and Nana in a small village in the province of Kumasi. Douglas and Nana there have bought a piece of land and wish to build a "Children's Village Project. Since the land is located in the jungle have to first trees, plants and shrubs are made. We have also started from sand and cement, the bricks for the houses later to form. This physical work is a good balance to the whole brain work in the school. Photos to follow soon.

I have now written the first class of tests with my students. Now correct it means there's no tomorrow. Next week will be the big exam. Then there is the gentle cycle hinrudern the Christmas holidays. I find it quite amazing in what circumstances the students here in part "learning" must and with what volume levels. Since wearing the open and interconnected classrooms in not one of a learning intensive teaching environment. Of the untrained and did not study, children apart beating faculty once. These points need of nothing to make, it's just a country that is only beginning to evolve slowly towards developed country standards, even if I would like to avoid these phrases, flatter or describe because nothing brings. Viewed objectively, it's just not very useful to hire teachers who have no idea about science education and who are not even in their field. It happened many times before that I had to explain here other ICT teachers what a "blog" is and how to register on Facebook.

Okay I hope you are at home it is all good. I will probably go next weekend to Accra to Samir times to visit. Glad you ever been to new impressions and images.

Munich Fire

GAFA Hello Friends and Members,

to our German-fill the Director of the NL to support something, I would like about the city Munich and the fire department and my department, the fire station 9 in Munich-Neuperlach to report.

The 14th June 1158 is considered the founding of the city of Munich in the constitutional sense. On that day the Munich market with toll bridge and coin by the emperor and the princes of the empire was recognized. The medieval city was firmly embraced by its wall. The building was then already very tight. As a building material prevailed wood, most roofs were covered with shingles, boards or straw, that is with combustible materials. Aggravating nor were the many fireplaces in homes and trades that were often also inadequately secured added. Not surprising it is that Munich has suffered during this period several times under fire disaster. Alone in a fire on 14 February 1327, which broke out in the Pfisterei the monastery on Anger, was destroyed a third of the city.

early 15th Century later the city purchased the first time own fire extinguishers. 1477 103 leather fire bucket in Schweinfurt were purchased. The biggest purchase of fire fighting equipment falls into 1489 At that time, 4 copper container mobilized on solid Schlittenkuven to fire water transport, 12 brass spray of about 80 cm long and 2 liters of water capacity and a further 100 leather buckets. These extinguishers were kept in the Town House on Anger.

Since that time, Munich is in constant growth. The city covers an area of 31.5 ha and has approx. 1.37 million inhabitants. In addition, keep a daily additionally approx. 300,000 tourists or business travelers (during Oktoberfest rd. 500,000) and 88,000 students in the city.
be particularly worthy of protection for objects the fire department I would like to mention here the Historic City Hall, Nymphenburg Palace, the residence, the National Theater and the Frauenkirche. Also to be found in the city including 44 hospitals, 325 schools and numerous nursing homes.

career firefighters in the city of Munich

In 1848, Turner turned a so-called volunteer firefighters in the service of the city. She had been equipped with its own resources, without any public support and in uniform. But the liberal-minded Turnerschaft was the middle class and suspicious of authority democratic machinations. Man it was therefore opposed to and as 1850 the new Law on Associations, the gymnastics clubs to political organizations and declared dissolved, it was over with the Turner Fire Department. Further attempts to establish a voluntary fire Turner have failed for different reasons. Finally, it has now been but on 09/10/1866 the creation of the volunteer fire department in Munich completed. It placed fully into the existing urban organization and was soon recognized and socially high. One year after founding the FF Munich had already 400 active members.
In the 70 years of the 19th Century Munich continued to grow. The population grew and in 1877 was Sendling incorporated. For this reason, the fire department was increasingly demanded more. On 07/01/1879 Munich finally got a professional fire department. They came on time at 12.00 clock in service, had a total strength of 24 men at first and already had a medical service. The staffing level has been strengthened in the years to improve the technical equipment of the military. Under the leadership of architect Zenetti as a senior commander of the cooperation between professional and volunteer fire department was already good. The service operation of the Fire Department was in the "service-instructions", a 150-page volume, in every detail strictly regulated. During its early years to move out 1879 Fire Department once a week had, they had in 1900 been a daily alarm. In 1904, the Fire Department was able to get the new main fire station at the flower street. The shift was divided at that time as follows: During a period of 64 days - free 4 days, 15 x 48-hour shift, 9 x 24-hour shift, to wax-free days - equipment maintenance, fire alarm monitoring and security surveillance. Slow the service was first introduced and amended roster in 1913 still valid 24-hour rotating shifts.

Today the fire department from Munich about 1,600 officials of the Fire Department and consists rd. 700 active members of the volunteer fire department.
