Project - Library: Part 2

the day yesterday brought the first visible success with it. The new window plates and frames were delivered and installed. Thus, the first major step has been taken. Today, then all the windows were completely cleaned by myself and Samir. All this of course was only possible through the donations already collected. Therefore I ask you, if you know anyone who is a good thing some € has left him about this Project. I also removed the mountain of books with the help of Samir further. Soon you can finally begin the basic cleansing. Thereafter, all books are clean and new book shelves to be purchased. Until then, however, be some time. Project - Library: Part 1

After a nice weekend with Samir, Lea and Tuulia in Accra, I am now back in school and started two days ago, the huge mountain of books which are in the middle of the library is to be removed. I will use the books in a empty classroom in intermediate storage, so I have the necessary space to clean the actual library. The entire area is currently under namely a 2 cm thick layer of dust and dirt. I will therefore probably be busy the next few days to weeks with the basic cleaning.

I also have hit me with a carpenter and examined the windows in the library. I would say the first money that I get by using your donations for the renovation of the windows. Currently missing 41 window panels. Through these holes, of course, comes all the time Dirt and dust from the outside in.. So before I can begin to effectively clean up the space I need to fill these holes. Furthermore, a window made from scratch, simply because there is currently only one gapes open air conditioning duct in the wall.

project: Library - Part 1

So I started yesterday afternoon in the library to work. That means I've then made a tour in which I wrote down what it must have thrown away what should be cleaned out what needs to be fixed, what needs to be purchased, etc. The photos show the current state of the library. It's actually just a big mess of dirty books, dirt, dust and garbage. Here obviously the last few years has not lifted a finger to change everything about something.

I'll post from now on always small weekly reports with photos here so you can watch the process of change.

I would like to point out that I want to buy for the renovation of some investments such as new windows, lamps, power outlets, carpeting, paint for the walls and so on. The school can not financially support me, however, as the renovation of the library was not scheduled in the annual budget. Therefore, I am unfortunately dependent on donations from outsiders. A new chapter

As the title suggests, is announcing a change ...

on Monday I will give my 6 ICT classes to a newly hired teachers. There are various reasons. On the one hand, I would very much like to start some projects here at school, collect different experiences, and simply change the working times. On the other hand, I am slow with my computer wit's end and that's not good for the already incredibly low learning efficiency of teaching here. A little bit everyday is good

It now has five months ago that 18 volunteers met in Accra to spend the next year in Ghana. Five months is undoubtedly a long time, but there is one here really often before, as if time flies. We have visited many places, met many new people and gained many new experiences. I'm curious how will the next seven months.




now you can say also that I'd won the John William School a real home from home. This is sometimes because I have really great roommate. I think that is absolutely not obvious, but it's almost scary how good here with us everything blends. I am very excited about the new volunteers who will eventually come this month to our team.
